Featuring four of the finest traditional players in the Ottawa/Gatineau region, JJIG unites the formidable talents of James Stephens (fiddle, mandolin, cittern), Justin Thériault (flute, whistle, Irish pipes), Ian Clark (guitar), and our very own Greg Brown (fiddle, concertina, banjo, bouzouki). If you’ve spent any time around the local Celtic scene, you already know these names — and you already know you’re in for something special.

There will be tunes.There will be songs.There will absolutely be foot-stomping.

Expect a spirited mix of Irish, Scottish, Newfoundland, and Quebecois folk music — the kind that makes you want to clap along, lift a glass, and maybe even clear a little space to dance.

After JJIG’s first set, the night opens up into a classic old-fashioned Celtic session at Motel Chelsea, with an open invitation for fellow musicians to jump in and keep the tunes rolling. The more, the merrier!

And this one’s extra special…

This show doubles as a birthday bash for Greg Brown — the multi-instrumental powerhouse you usually see running the sound board at our shows. This time, he’s stepping out front with JJIG, and we’d love to pack the room in celebration. Come out, show your support, and help us give Greg the kind of musical birthday party he won’t forget. Bring your friends. Bring your dancing shoes. Bring your loudest birthday wishes.

Live & Local est une série musicale gratuite axée sur la communauté qui rend hommage aux artistes qui vivent et créent ici même, chez nous. Certains jeudis soirs, un musicien local différent anime la soirée en apportant sur scène son propre son, ses collaborateurs et sa vision créative. Chaque soirée comprend un set complet de l'animateur, suivi d'une jam session ouverte et collaborative. Aucune soirée ne se ressemble, elles sont toujours gratuites, toujours locales et toujours en direct.

Il s'agit d'un événement où l'on passe le chapeau : merci de soutenir et de montrer votre appréciation pour l'artiste à l'affiche en contribuant à hauteur de vos moyens.

Après le premier set de JJIG, la soirée se poursuivra avec une session celtique classique à l'ancienne au Motel Chelsea, où tous les musiciens sont invités à se joindre à nous pour continuer à jouer. Plus on est de fous, plus on rit !

Et cette soirée est vraiment spéciale...

Ce spectacle est également l'occasion de fêter l'anniversaire de Greg Brown, le multi-instrumentiste que vous voyez généralement aux commandes de la table de mixage lors de nos spectacles. Cette fois-ci, il se produit sur scène avec JJIG, et nous aimerions remplir la salle pour célébrer cet événement. Venez nombreux, montrez votre soutien et aidez-nous à offrir à Greg une fête d'anniversaire musicale qu'il n'oubliera jamais. Amenez vos amis. Amenez vos chaussures de danse.
