About Ottawa Music Lover

Ottawa Music Lover was created in March 2015 by Karen Quesnel as a way to promote local musicians in Ottawa in her spare time. It started out as a way to try to help out the few musicians that she knew personally and grew from there. The original idea was to try to help out local artists making original music get a few extra people out to shows and help get their names out there. After all, the amount of musical talent in Ottawa and the surrounding area is enormous!

Ottawa is more than just musicians though. Venues and support personnel also make up the scene. OML has switched focus from the artists to the venues partly because of the limitations of Facebook on the number of tags, I would love to be able to tag every artist in every post but it's just too many links so the decision to switch focus onto the venue made more sense. The venue would have a wider audience for their shows as opposed to possibly new artists who have yet to build up an audience and the Facebook events has all of the information about the artists anyway (presumably). Now that this web site has been created the attempt to share information about both the artist and the venue will be attempted.

OML is planning on expanding into other areas of promotion including podcasts and events.
